Duties: Work in a multidisciplinary team of biologists, clinical experts, and software engineers to develop the precision medicines and patient selection strategies of the future; Play a central role in the planning of research programmes in the precision medicine space from a bioinformatics, statistics, and data analysis perspective; Design and develop pipelines for the automated analysis, reporting and quality control of high content imaging assays and their integration with clinical and multi -omics data; Perform custom data analysis in close alignment with biologists and clinicians; Develop scalable solutions for the structured management of assay metadata; Leverage cutting-edge distributed cloud environments and deep learning approaches
Requirements: PhD in bioinformatics or MSc with several years of industry experience. A PostDoc in bioinformatics is a bonus; Fluent in Python and/or R programming; Solid understanding of common statistical methods (including outlier identification, significance testing, regression methods). Experience with classical machine learning and deep learning approaches is a bonus; Prior experience either in computational image analysis or the analysis and integration of multi -omics datasets, in particular NGS; Prior experience with orchestrating bioinformatic analyses in distributed cloud computing systems is a bonus

In this role, you will take the lead for the analysis and integration of multi-modal data (including high content imaging and NGS) in a cutting-edge research project aimed at matching the right drugs to the right cancer patients and work alongside a multidisciplinary team of experts at the forefront of their respective fields. You will also play a central role in the development and planning of future research projects aimed at being disruptive to patient care (c.f., our most recent publication Kornauth et al. Cancer Discovery 2021) Exscientia is committed to getting better medicines to patients, faster and with higher chances of success. We do this by applying the latest research in artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning and modern high-performance computation to transform drug design. In addition, we systematically leverage primary human tissues as patient-centric model systems to overcome the limited clinical relevance of conventional mouse, organoid or cell line models. We are recognized as a leader in our space being the first company to have brought AI designed drugs into clinical studies. Our AI-powered ex vivo drug testing platform is the first-ever to have demonstrated the ability to prioritize clinically effective molecules in a prospective interventional study (Snijder, Vladimer et al., Lancet Hematol. 2017; Kornauth et al., Cancer Discovery 2021).
