Position: Chief Actuary

Duties: Provide management with actuarial and other technical support in various areas such as Product development and Business Monitoring; Lead and develop the actuarial team on a day to day basis; Work with Underwriting team in Pricing and other technical issues; Oversee the Reserving evaluation under US/UK/LI GAAP; Work with Finance team in various exercises such as Financial Reporting and Planning; Actuarial oversight and analysis to the UK Branch Management Committee; Liaise with Corporate in the US and the local Legal entity on various Group/Entity exercises and projects; Manage Actuarial team: Ensure performance of the team is delivering the strategic goals and if necessary bring about change to deliver an improved outcome; manage annual performance review; continually train, develop team with respect to various actuarial tools and technical actuarial concepts
Requirements: Full Actuarial qualifications with experience in Reinsurance. Exposure to pricing/reserving structured QS beneficial; Strong professional and technical skills; capable of providing pragmatic estimates and solutions with short notice and/or limited data as situations require; Knowledge and prior experience of the London Market including a good understanding on the Market Cycle and the volatility of excess of loss Reinsurance; Knowledge and understanding of US/UK GAAP accounting and US/UK Statutory Returns

Responsibilities We have an exciting opportunity at Berkley Re for a Chief Actuary to work closely with Senior Management, Underwriting and Finance teams to deliver strategy and oversee the Pricing and Reserving functions. Process and methodologies; liaise with the Corporate Reinsurance Chief Actuary and internal reserve committee and external auditors regarding actuarial issues; Ownership of all Actuarial related SOX controls. Qualifications Required Experience: Full Actuarial qualifications with experience in Reinsurance.
