You will join the LETTERBOX team that is investigating the historical structure of the financial off-shore industry in Luxembourg by improving our pipeline for information extraction; in particular related to locations, organizations and persons; applied to different, large scale data sources
Requirements: PhD in data science, computer science or related disciplines; Demonstrated experience in analyzing heterogenous data sources; Required experience includes: Python for software development; Experience with entity extraction pipelines such as spaCy, their adaptation for specific use cases and an interest in pushing the envelope of the state of the art; Experience in developing data visualizations and interfaces to explore heterogenous datasets

What we expect from you… The ideal candidate would have experience and an interest in data science. We seek a highly motivated candidate with the following profile: PhD in data science, computer science or related disciplines; Demonstrated experience in analyzing heterogenous data sources; Required experience includes: Python for software development Experience with entity extraction pipelines such as spaCy ( https://spacy.io ), their adaptation for specific use cases and an interest in pushing the envelope of the state of the art Experience in developing data visualizations and interfaces to explore heterogenous datasets Experience that would be great — or an interest in learning! — includes: Active experience in using the Aleph Data Platform ( https://alephdata.org ) or comparable platforms Passionate about using technology to conduct research; Willingness to cooperate actively in a team of mixed experience; An interest in digital humanities, digital archives, preservation and/or the finer workings of the international offshore finance industry will be a plus; Ability to meet deadlines and demonstrate methodological, organised, pragmatic and effective approaches to the work; Good command of English.
