Requirements: PhD in epidemiology, statistics, health sciences or relevant field (exceptional Masters level graduates with writing experience as a first author may be considered); Sound knowledge of research methods in epidemiology and biostatistics; Experience and proven ability in data management and quantitative analysis of large, complex data including high level of proficiency with data analysis software (eg STATA, R, SAS or SPSS), merging data sets, data quality checking and multivariate regression techniques; Experience in linked data analysis

About the team The Cardiovascular Research Group (CVRG) is a research-intensive unit within the School of Population and Global Health, undertaking epidemiological research into various cardiovascular diseases, with a particular focus on monitoring trends over time using linked administrative data. The incumbent will participate in a broad program of work related to heart disease and stroke in the Australian population, including Aboriginal cardiovascular disease research. About the opportunity As the appointee, you will contribute to multi-jurisdictional grant-funded programs of work related to stroke prevention and Aboriginal cardiovascular disease. You will be involved in the design, analysis and write up of epidemiological studies using linked data from multiple sources. To be considered for this role, you will demonstrate: PhD in epidemiology, statistics, health sciences or relevant field (exceptional Masters level graduates with writing experience as a first author may be considered) Sound knowledge of research methods in epidemiology and biostatistics Experience and proven ability in data management and quantitative analysis of large, complex data including high level of proficiency with data analysis software (eg STATA, R, SAS or SPSS), merging data sets, data quality checking and multivariate regression techniques Experience in linked data analysis Project management and co-ordination skills Proven ability in the preparation and publication of manuscripts in peer-reviewed journals Highly developed and effective interpersonal and communication skills About you The successful candidate will need to be available to commence in February 2022. The position may have the possibility to increase to full-time.
