Duties: We would like applicants to draw up a short research plan to describe a project that could be implemented. You may suggest projects aimed at developing novel ML methods with integrated quality control for specific application scenarios in medicine that deal with aspects such as spatial-temporal physiological recording. You may also suggest novel approaches to measuring, improving or benchmarking quality aspects of ML in medicine (e.g., robustness, explainability, fairness, confidentiality), including approaches based on synthetic reference data
Requirements: You have completed your university studies (master’s or German Diplom) and obtained a doctorate (PhD) in a relevant technical subject (e.g., IT, mathematics, statistics, physics) or in medicine; You have profound and current expertise in theoretical and practical ML/AI as well as statistics; You demonstrate strong expertise at the crossroads of ML/AI and medicine as verified by relevant publications in these fields; You are able to manage and implement projects with a high degree of autonomy; You are willing and able to consider matters from both a scientific and regulatory vantage point; You have the strong motivation and drive to define and advance the quality control aspects of ML/AI systems in medicine; You are a team player with excellent communication skills and a willingness to cooperate; You have a very good command of both spoken and written English

January 2022 The Physikalisch-Technische Bundesanstalt (PTB) is the national metrology institute of the Federal Republic of Germany with scientific and technical service tasks. It furthers progress and reliability in metrology for society, the economy and science. With a starting date as soon as possible, Department 8.01, Artificial Intelligence and Simulation in Medicine, is looking for a candidate to fill the following position at PTB’s Berlin site for a duration of three years: Scientist with a PhD specializing in metrology and quality assurance of machine-learning and AI systems in medicine up to Remuneration Group 14 TVöD Bund ○ full-time (39 hours/week) ○ fixed-term contract We would like applicants to draw up a short research plan to describe a project that could be implemented.
