Position: Scientist in the field of chemical analysis

Duties: The activities of Working Group 3.31, Fuel Gas Analysis, focus on the chemical analysis of fuel gases and their combustion products.You will support us by taking care of the following: Scientific collaboration in the EMPIR project titled “Metrology for decarbonising the gas grid”; Developing novel analytical methods based on gas phase chromatography for the introduction of hydrogen in natural gas grids; Optimizing, validating and evaluating the efficiency of analytical procedures (e.g., according to EN ISO 10723); Conducting research on the state of the art of the analytical techniques mentioned above; Coordinating project tasks with project partners and communicating with them; Presenting the results in scientific publications and participating in national and international congresses; Reporting on the current project and participating in the acquisition of projects
Requirements: You have completed your university studies (master’s or German Diplom ) in chemistry, chemical process engineering or a comparable subject with at least good grades. A very good doctorate in the field of chemical analysis would be an advantage; You have experimental experience in analyzing gases/gas mixtures; You have experience in developing chromatographic applications; You have experience in scientific project work; Ideally, you have a good knowledge of gas phase chromatography, in particular with gas mixtures; Knowledge of measuring instrument control and automation would be an advantage; You are a strong team player with excellent communication skills; You are willing to continuously improve your skills; You have an autonomous and self-reliant working style; You have a good command of both spoken and written German and English; You are willing to travel within Germany and abroad within the scope of your assignment; You are physically fit for working in a laboratory and handling compressed gas cylinders

It furthers progress and reliability in metrology for society, the economy and science.
