Duties: Applications are invited for a Borland Fellowship in the Department of Mathematics, commencing on 1 October 2022. The duration of this post is for two years (fixed term). This post provides an excellent opportunity for those seeking to pursue an academic career in condensed matter physics, mathematical physics, or scientific computation. Candidates for a Borland Fellowship are expected to have proven research ability in one of these areas. The successful candidate will be affiliated with the Applied Mathematics and Mathematical Physics (AMMP) Section of the Mathematics Department. Applicants are encouraged to indicate members of the AMMP Section with whom they anticipate interacting during the fellowship
Requirements: Hold a PhD (or equivalent) in Mathematics, Physics or a closely related subject; A proven research record in Mathematics and/or Physics; The potential for strong leadership qualities in the subject, as illustrated, for example, through showing initiative on research projects; An outstanding research record commensurate with their level of experience as demonstrated, for example, through an outstanding thesis, publications, conference presentations etc; An exceptional ability in the chosen research area; The ability to contribute significantly to the research environment of the Department of Mathematics as demonstrated, for example, through a proven track record of successful research interaction
