Duties: Applications are invited for an Associate Lecturer (Teaching) post in Advanced Energy Materials at the Institute for Materials Discovery, University College London. The postholder will undertake appropriate teaching duties within the Institute for Materials Discovery at Masters level and is expected to contribute significantly towards the existing MSc programme in Advanced Materials Science as well as developing new energy materials related programmes and modules as well as the supervision of MSc project students
Requirements: The successful candidate must have a PhD in Materials Science/Engineering or equivalent in a relevant area, together with experience in teaching, and running practical lab demonstration and training in Materials Science/Engineering or a related subject, especially in materials design, manufacturing, energy materials, energy technologies, characterization of the structure, electrochemical and mechanical properties of materials, and performance evaluation of energy materials for engineering, transport, energy and biomedical applications at undergraduate degree level and/or Masters level and supervising multidisciplinary research projects in these areas

The postholder will undertake appropriate teaching duties within the Institute for Materials Discovery at Masters level and is expected to contribute significantly towards the existing MSc programme in Advanced Materials Science as well as developing new energy materials related programmes and modules as well as the supervision of MSc project students. The appointee will also interact with other academic and interdisciplinary units throughout UCL and elsewhere in developing the curriculum and ensuring delivery of high-quality teaching, multidisciplinary project supervision and excellent student learning experience. The post holder will be expected to be proactive, innovative and exercise a high degree of responsibilities. The appointment is available to start immediately. The role is for one year in the first instance. These include metals and alloys, ceramics and glasses, polymer,rganic-inorganic hybrid materials, (nano)composite as well as 2D materials. Furthermore, the appointee will have excellent verbal and written communication skills, good interpersonal skills and the ability to relate to staff and students in a teaching and learning context. A commitment to acquiring new work-related skills and to maintaining skills and knowledge up to date is also an essential requirement.
