Duties: In this exciting role you will be responsible for the management, storage curation and maintenance of the CLS cohorts’ genetics data, and for developing CLS cohorts’ genomic data resources, for example through developing pipelines to curate data and create polygenic risk scores. You will also be responsible for the release of the genetics datasets to approved data sharing applicants in compliance with data governance regulations, and act as the main point of contact for all genetics data related queries concerning data quality, availability and delivery
Requirements: You will have a MSc in data intensive field such as Data Science, Genetics, Statistics, Epidemiology, Bioinformatics, Health Informatics, Computer science or related field; or equivalent expertise/experience; You will be familiar with standard computational tools of statistical genetics and have advanced programming experience with scripting languages (e.g., R, Python), with the ability to elicit and validate requirements as well as scripting, debugging and improving scripts

CLS has responsibility for and manages four of Britain's internationally renowned cohort studies: 1958 National Child Development Study (NCDS) 1970 British Cohort Study (BCS70) Millennium Cohort Study (MCS) Next Steps (formerly the Longitudinal Study of Young People in England) A major expansion is underway with the availability of new genetic data (e.g., trios of natural parents and children in MCS, and new genetic and methylation data in NCDS and BCS70). Through this appointment, CLS is seeking to develop, manage and share widely these genetic data resources.
