Position: Senior Catastrophe Risk Analyst

Duties: Build a detailed understanding of a portfolio and develop catastrophe analytics which are aligned with business strategy and which provide underwriters with catastrophe underwriting strategic choices; Develop catastrophe exposure and profit optimization metrics; Contribute to vendor model review/validations; Develop a good understanding of the relevant peril region data sensitivities of the vendor models used and build data quality enhancement protocols and guidelines accordingly; Contribute to the development of desktop MI metrics and tools to support Cat account and portfolio underwriting; Contribute to a variety of team wide projects
Requirements: Degree educated, preferably in mathematics, engineering or a science; Ideally in excess of 5 years of catastrophe modelling experience with emphasis on detailed portfolio analysis, reporting and model testing; In-depth experience of RiskLink/Risk Browser and preferably an alternative vendor model; Experience of critically appraising vendor models; Responsibility for managing sizeable projects including elements of significant complexity; Evidence of having solved technical problems/challenges; Previous experience working with SQL is required

The Chubb Catastrophe Management Team within Chubb Overseas General (COG) in London supports and directs the international catastrophe functions where we employ over 80 catastrophe analysts. The Senior Catastrophe Analyst (COG) will report directly into the Catastrophe Portfolio Manager (COG). The analyst work on wide variety of projects aimed ultimately at providing metrics and insights in support of portfolio optimisation. The analyst will develop and maintain strong working relationships with underwriters, the Corporate Catastrophe Solutions Team, the international catastrophe functions, and modelling agencies. The analyst will also take on the ownership of a key international portfolio as they develop in the role. Other programming languages such as R would be valuable Working knowledge of RMS EDM and RDM structures Strong maths capabilities and the desire to work heavily with numbers Strong interpersonal skills Strong project management skills, with the ability to balance multiple projects Good written and oral communication skills; ability to explain technical issues in non-technical terms and to present to senior management The ability to produce high quality presentation material Very high levels of accuracy Must be someone who doesn’t take processes, procedures, methodologies for granted, but continually questions them and looks for areas where they can be improved An in-built desire to impress stakeholders and increase the impact that catastrophe management has on the business Integrity.
