Position: Bioinformatics Research Scientist
Institution: Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität Bonn
Location: Bonn, Nordrhein‐Westfalen, Germany
Duties: Scientific consulting, support of researchers as well as independent research in high performance computing and analytics in the field of life sciences, in particular systems biology and bioinformatics (interdisciplinary bridging function); Representing the HPC/A-Lab internally and externally; Development and maintenance of the regional and international research network; Participation in the application and implementation of (third-party) projects; Resource planning and management, determination of requirement profiles of the cooperation partners; Participation in academic self-governance; Participation in the implementation of courses
Requirements: Doctoral degree and completed scientific university studies (Master) in Computational Biology, Bioinformatics, Systems Biology or related fields; Experience in scientific research projects and the publication of their results; Deep knowledge and experience in mathematical modeling, simulation, and massively parallel data analysis; Experience in the usage and/or coordination of mainframe and/or specialized HPC architectures; Knowledge of modern computer architectures and their suitability for various application profiles; Experience in programming data or computationally intensive methods and data analysis; Excellent communication skills, both written and spoken (German and English)
