Duties: Commissioning and enhancing a new measuring device based on mass spectrometry for the on-site chemical analysis of thermochemical conversion processes; Conducting research & development activities on the energy conversion processes of hydrogen and mixtures of hydrogen and natural gas as well as on soot formation in alternative fuels; Developing the associated signal processing software; Performing and assessing experiments using, among other things, analytical methods based on mass spectrometry and laser spectroscopy; Developing, improving and validating chemical kinetic reaction mechanisms; Reducing measurement uncertainties by optimizing the measurement and assessment procedures used
Requirements: You have completed your university studies (German Diplom or Master's) in physical chemistry, physics, mechanical or chemical engineering; Knowledge and practical experience, preferably in several of the following fields, are a prerequisite: o the chemical processes of combustion; o mass spectrometry; o shock tube techniques; o laser diagnostics; You are interested in experimental work and computer simulations; Knowledge of the software programs Matlab, Cantera/Chemkin, and Labview would be an advantage; You are able to perform goal-oriented scientific work; You are a strong team player with excellent communication skills; You have a high level of commitment and responsibility and are able to work autonomously; You have a good command of scientific and technical English, both written and spoken; You are willing to travel within Germany and abroad within the scope of your assignment

It furthers progress and reliability in metrology for society, the economy and science.
