Position: Research Engineer (m/w/d) for Positive Energy Districts

Duties: You develop urban energy concepts for a range of private and public clients; You carry out holistic analysis of energy demands and supply including flexibilization need and potential for local renewable energy generation on the neighborhood level; You contribute in developing and implementing holistic monitoring concepts for urban neighborhoods; You collaborate with municipalities, engineers, architects and urban planners in developing planning concepts
Requirements: Your qualifications as an Ingenious Partner*: BSc./MSc. in Building Science, Architecture, Urban Planning. Civil Engineering, Energy Engineering, Applied physics or related disciplines; At least 5 years proven experience in energy systems engineering, building simulation and urban energy modelling and excellent command of relevant simulation tools; Profound understanding of Life Cycle Analysis (LCA); Proven experience in analyzing energy monitoring data and excellent command of relevant analytical tools (JUPYTER, R, Python); Good programming skills; A good understanding of building information models and city information models; Experience in conducting workshops and scientific talks; Proven experience in developing and contributing research and consulting projects; Very good communication skills in English and at least good understanding of German; A proven track of scientific publications is an asset

Our Center for Energy is seeking to hire new Ingenious Partners for our location in Vienna: Research Engineer (m/w/d) for Positive Energy Districts You will be part of a multidisciplinary team focusing on the development of new approaches and solutions for smart and resilient cities around the world. You make a significant contribution to the planning, piloting and monitoring of Positive Energy Districts (PEDs) and urban energy systems. You will be part of a group of experts working on transforming urban energy systems and pioneering PED developments on the way to carbon-neutral cities. You develop urban energy concepts for a range of private and public clients. You carry out holistic analysis of energy demands and supply including flexibilization need and potential for local renewable energy generation on the neighborhood level. You contribute in developing and implementing holistic monitoring concepts for urban neighborhoods. You collaborate with municipalities, engineers, architects and urban planners in developing planning concepts. You will bring AITs energy planning and LCA tools for neighborhoods to the next level. You will become a known player in the Austrian and European PED research community. You successfully contribute in acquiring research projects (e.g. Horizon Europe) and international consulting projects. You contribute to publishing scientific articles in top peer-reviewed journals and at international conferences. The actual salary will be determined individually, based on your qualifications and experience.
