The PhD-student (Doctoral candidate) will work under the guidance of a professor on a research theme in Environmental assessment of building structures and will also contribute to education in Steel/Composite Construction in a certain extent. She/he should finish the work with a doctoral degree in engineering science. Foreseen research The ArcelorMittal Chair of Steel construction researches in steel- and steel composite structures and innovative solutions that reduce environmental impact and support a rational use of natural resources in the building and construction sector. Circular reusable structures open scenarios and challenges for more sustainable buildings that aim to reduce or eliminate its impacts on the environment. This research will work out possible projections concerning the construction market development and combine it with different building construction- and circularity assumptions - in order to obtain scenarios for future carbon emissions savings. The capability to perform Life-Cycle Analyses, with focus on Global Warming Potential at building structure levels is needed for this specific project in accordance with standards such as ISO 14040, ISO 14044, EN 15804 and EN 15978, considering recyle and reuse of end-of-life building products inclusive Module D specified in EN 15804. Routes shall be evaluated to satisfy the green deal targets.
