Requirements: We invite candidates with an Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in biochemistry, analytical chemistry or similar; At least 2 - 5 years of experience in a research laboratory; Strong background in theory and performance of liquid chromatography and mass spectrometry; Organizational skills; Experience in protein/omics and/or small molecule MS based analysis; Experience in cell culture and/or bacterial characterization is a plus; Experience in good Laboratory Practices; Team-player; Able to work in a fast-paced environment: self-motivated, able to multi-task, and meet timelines efficiently and productively; Cross-cultural sensitivity; Good knowledge of standard software programs (word, excel, power point); Excellent command of the English language

You will be responsible for the development and application of novel hyphenated mass spectrometry, e. g., LC-MS/MS or LC-IMSMS/MS and multi wavelength surface plasmon resonance (mw-SPR) methodologies to study biofilm formation on newly designed implants. Job description In the DARTBAC project we aim to develop new antimicrobial technologies that are not based on antibiotics to target infection prevention and eradication on implant surfaces, in hard tissues and in soft tissues ( https://nwa-dartbac.eu ). These biomedical materials are of growing interest in a variety of medical applications especially in the field of regenerative medicine but also as models in fundamental research; however, their analysis remains difficult. This research is embedded with the Maastricht Multi Modal Molecular Imaging (M4i) institute, internationally recognized as a center of excellence in the design, development and application of novel mass spectrometry methodologies. We offer a 4 year full time position in an highly dynamic working environment with ample possibilities for personal development. Job Overview We are looking for a colleague, able to: Establish and validate new methods for high throughput LC-MS/MS, ion mobility(IMS) separation and mass spectrometry imaging analyses for biomaterial and tissue characterization; Develop new SPR based binding assays; Implement validated sample automation workflows for proteomics and spatial -omics strategies; Compile and implement standard operator procedures and assay method descriptions for the laboratory; Supervise equipment performance; Support other researchers in sample preparation, data acquisition and analysis; Practice safe work habits, including complying with all safety, health, and environmental rules and regulations. The position is a 1 year full time paid position with possible continuation up to 4 years. You will be paid accordingly to salary scale 7 (€2.329-€3.144), depending on level of education and relevant work experience. On top of this, there is an 8% holiday and an 8.3% year-end allowance. We offer a full-time position (38 hours/week) within Maastricht University at M4I, the Maastricht MultiModal Molecular Imaging institute.
