Duties: The focus of the UCL BHF Research Accelerator is to bring together a team of scientists to tackle cardiovascular disease by using computer science and computational biology to generate usable insights from big data. It is a partnership between several UCL Faculties including Computer Science, Faculty of Population Health Science (Institute of Health Informatics and Institute of Cardiovascular Science), Faculty of Life Sciences and Faculty of Engineering Sciences The holder of this post will apply machine intelligence to multi-layered, high dimensional biological and clinical data, to inform drug development, patient and disease stratification, prediction and prognosis. We place a strong emphasis on supporting career development and independence including providing support for personal Fellowship applications
Requirements: We seek applications from individuals with outstanding skills in quantitative sciences and computing keen to apply their expertise to biomedical data with the aim of transforming the outlook for those at risk of, or who suffer from cardiovascular disease; You will have recently completed a PhD in, bioinformatics, computational biology, computer science or related discipline. Candidates who are at the writing up stage of their PhD or awaiting a PhD viva will also be considered; You will have strong programming skills, be comfortable manipulating large-scale data, and have some prior experience in building bioinformatics pipelines. You will be motivated and resourceful, an effective independent worker, and a collaborative team member; This post is funded to 31 March 2024 in the first instance
