Duties: The responsibilities of the post will include undertaking research in Computational Statistics, including MCMC and SMC methods to complement research in Biophysical modelling, applying the developed methods to experimental data sets acquired clinically. The ideal candidate will plan and perform (computational) experiments and record, analyse and provide written and/or oral reports of the results of the experiments and establish a strongly multidisciplinary research environment with collaborators in the CHIMERA Hub
Requirements: Candidates should either have a PhD or equivalent qualification in Mathematics, Statistics, or a closely related field in Physical Sciences OR should be finalising their PhD or waiting for their viva date. Applicants should demonstrate a publication record appropriate to their level of experience and hold outstanding skills and experience in statistics and/or machine learning. The postholder should have knowledge (theoretical and practical) of computational statistics, e.g. MCMC or SMC methods and have excellent skills in programming using at least one of the following languages: R, Python, Julia, Matlab
   
Text: Research Fellow in Computational Statistics for Biophysical Modelling (CHIMERA) , - Ref:1877417 Click here to go back to search results Apply Now UCL Department / Division Maths Specific unit / Sub department CORU (Clinical Operational Research Unit) Location of position London Grade 7 Hours Full Time Salary (inclusive of London allowance) £36,028 - £40,125 per annum Duties and Responsibilities The Clinical Operational Research Unit (CORU) is a team of researchers dedicated to applying operational research and mathematical modelling approaches to problems in health care. This appointment is one of four EPSRC-funded Mathematical Sciences in Healthcare Hubs. Applications are invited for a full time Research Fellow to work in the UCL Clinical Operational Research Unit (CORU) in Computational Statistics for Biophysical Modelling with Dr Alex Diaz. The responsibilities of the post will include undertaking research in Computational Statistics, including MCMC and SMC methods to complement research in Biophysical modelling, applying the developed methods to experimental data sets acquired clinically. The ideal candidate will plan and perform (computational) experiments and record, analyse and provide written and/or oral reports of the results of the experiments and establish a strongly multidisciplinary research environment with collaborators in the CHIMERA Hub. The post is available as soon as possible. This post is funded until 17th January 2023 in the first instance, with the possibility of further extension.
