Position: Research Fellow in Materials Modelling and Machine Learning
Institution: University College London
Department: UCL Institute for Materials Discovery
Location: London, United Kingdom
Duties: Applications are invited for a Research Fellow to work with Professor Kwang-Leong Choy at the UCL Institute for Materials Discovery. This is an exciting project that aims to discover, and design technologically important novel materials with desired properties and functionality, together with the selection of manufacturing processes and optimization of processing parameters for the next generation of low cost, eco-friendly and high performance functional materials and devices at the UCL Institute for Materials Discovery. The post holder will perform innovative and cutting edge research to develop material models and novel machine learning methods tools to perform materials modeling and characterization of the complex relationships of materials-structure-processing-properties for the discovery of new nanostructured materials, renewable energy materials, sensors and electronic devices to increase industrial innovation. The findings will be validated experimentally. Applicants with a background in Bayesian learning and deep learning as well as a strong Python programming skills are particularly encouraged to apply
Requirements: PhD or equivalent in Materials Science/Engineering, Materials Chemistry, Physics, Computer Science and/or a broad range of relevant backgrounds in Science/Engineering degree. The successful candidate will have a keen interest in new materials development, materials simulation, machine learning and data mining in Materials Science. The project also requires a highly practical candidate with keen interest in materials processing and characterisation as well as device fabrication
