Position: Junior Program Officer

Duties: Supporting the team in developing, acquiring, and implementing projects in the Post-Soviet Space in general and the South Caucasus region in particular; Assisting in the implementation of projects on archives exchanges and memory in the Georgia-Abkhaz context; Assisting in implementing capacity-building activities and trainings on Dealing with the Past; Assisting in reporting and administration, as well as monitoring and evaluation of projects
Requirements: Aspiration to develop a career in peacebuilding and the topic of Dealing with the Past; Competence in advising, coaching and/or training stakeholders, as well as project management; Strong service orientation and intercultural, interpersonal, and communication skills; Excellent spoken and written English and Russian, other languages welcome; Experience of living and/or working in the Post-Soviet Space is a strong asset; Strong organizational skills, pro-active, reliable and paying attention to detail; Availability for international travel, including to conflict-affected countries; Master's degree in a relevant discipline
   
Text: Junior Program Officer (100%) Starting date: 1 July 2021 or by agreement swisspeace is a practice and research institute dedicated to advancing effective peacebuilding. It supports and advises local, national, and international actors relevant for peacebuilding, researches topics particularly relevant for peacebuilding practice, provides spaces for exchange and dialogue, and shapes peace policy in Switzerland and globally. swisspeace is an associated institute of the University of Basel. The swisspeace Dealing with the Past team supports governmental and non-governmental actors working to overcome the legacy of massive human rights violations and breaches of international humanitarian law having occurred in contexts of colonialism, armed conflict and authoritarian regimes, and to prevent their reoccurrence. Particular thematic focus lies on archives and DwP and disappeared persons.
