Position: Intern - Dealing with the Past

Duties: Administrative and logistic support of courses, conferences, workshop and roundtables, including the Advanced Dealing with the Past Course that the Swiss Federal Department of Foreign Affairs organizes in cooperation with swisspeace; General assistance of the research activities with regard to DwP; General support in developing and acquiring new projects, such as drafting proposals and contributing to networking with partners and donors
Requirements: BA (higher degrees will not be accepted) in international relations, social sciences, law or similar disciplines; Strong organizational skills, reliable and paying attention to detail; Self-initiative, able to work independently and as part of a team, able to work pro-actively and under pressure; Cultural sensitivity, as well as strong intercultural, interpersonal, and communication skills; Experience and willingness of supporting virtual activities, such as workshops, round tables, and conferences; Proficiency in English and German (writing, speaking and listening); Arabic, Spanish or French are an asset; Legal residence status in Switzerland
   
Text: Intern - Dealing with the Past (100%) Starting date: 1 July 2021 or by agreement Duration: 6 months Gross salary per month: CHF 1,500 swisspeace is a practice and research institute dedicated to advancing effective peacebuilding. It supports and advises local, national, and international actors relevant for peacebuilding, researches topics particularly relevant for peacebuilding practice, provides spaces for exchange and dialogue, and shapes peace policy in Switzerland and globally. swisspeace is an associated institute of the University of Basel. The swisspeace Dealing with the Past (DwP) team supports governmental and non-governmental actors working to overcome the legacy of massive human rights violations and breaches of international humanitarian law having occurred in contexts of colonialism, armed conflict and authoritarian regimes, and to prevent their reoccurrence. Particular thematic focus lies on archives and DwP and disappeared persons.
