Successful candidates will have the opportunity to build an important contribution to shape the future of mobility in Luxembourg. Therefore, you will be - among other research activities - working together in a research project with the foundation of Enovos Luxembourg S.A., the major energy supplier in Luxembourg. The topic of the project is “Incentivized Charging Scheduling for Electrical Vehicles” and it concerns the development of an EV charging scheduling system which is attractive to end users, fits into energy suppliers market strategies, and maximizes the benefits of all involved parties without overloading the energy grid infrastructure. The project is held in close collaboration with the technical committee of the Enovos Foundation and, as the successful candidate, you will be expected to program prototype tools showcasing the practical benefits of your research outcomes. Next to these activities, successful candidates will carry out research in the context of Prof. Fridgen’s PayPal-FNR PEAL Research Grant with the topic digitalization of energy systems. You will be required to perform the following tasks: Carrying out research in the predefined areas Survey the scientific literature in the relevant research domains Disseminating results through scientific publications Communicate with the partner to collect requirements and report results Support the implementation of proof-of-concept software tools Your Profile What we’re looking for: The interest and desire to work in interdisciplinary teams A desire to deliver the best solutions in the highest quality The ability to work in a team, motivation, self-initiative, flexibility, and willingness to work Sound analytical skills Solution-oriented working habits The willingness to assume responsibility An excellent degree Experience: The ideal candidate should have some knowledge and/or experience in a number of the following topics: Knowledge in at least one major programming language (e.g., Python, MATLAB, Java) Knowledge in optimization, simulation and decision systems Ideally knowledge in electricity markets Ideally knowledge on electric vehicle charging The ideal candidate should furthermore have a strong interest in digitalization and electric mobility. Skills in related domains (e.g. financial markets) will be appreciated. Language Skills: Fluent written and verbal communication skills in English are required. Knowledge of German or Luxembourgish is desirable. Qualification : The candidate should possess an MSc degree (or equivalent) in Computer Science, Information Systems Engineering, Power Systems Engineering, or Industrial Engineering.
