Requirements: Applications are sought from candidates with an M.Sc. degree (or equivalent) and strong academic background in meteorology, oceanography, physics (including astronomy, astrophysics and planetary science), engineering (especially fluid dynamics and heat transfer) or related areas. Programming skills are expected. Proficiency in English is required
   
Text: The Max Planck Institute for Meteorology (MPI-M), a multidisciplinary centre for climate and Earth system research located in Hamburg, Germany, invites applications for 3 PhD positions Successful candidates will enter either the Department The Atmosphere in the Earth System or The Ocean in the Earth System of MPI-mpimet.mpg.de/en/science/ M and become member of the International Max Planck Research School on Earth System Modelling (IMPRS-ESM; imprs-esm.mpimet.mpg.de). Our school offers prime research facilities, advanced academic training in the Earth system sciences and modelling, as well as a structured supervision programme. The candidates will work on one of the following topics: T1 "Moist greenhouse atmospheres" T2 "Cloud feedbacks" T3 "The distribution of humidity in the tropics" T4 “Air-sea CO2 flux“.
