Position: Senior Fellowship: Data Privacy Professional

Duties: Provide expert guidance on the implementation of CERN’s internal data protection framework and on compliance with data privacy obligations and in the processing of personal data; Advise on risk mitigation, policy development, drafting internal rules and regulations; participate in the concertation and decision-making processes, and support implementation of the decisions in matters concerning the processing of personal data; Ensure adequate exercise and execution of Data Subject rights; Manage the framework for the creation and maintenance of Records of Processing Operations; Evaluate and advise on Data Privacy Impact Assessments; Participate in the Organization’s Data Breach response procedure
Requirements: You have a PhD, or at least 4 years’ relevant experience since the completion of your MSc (or the equivalent diploma which gives access to doctoral programmes) in the field of information and communications technology (ICT), law or a related field and with a maximum limit of 10 years’ experience after completion of your MSc; Demonstrated experience in privacy and data protection law and practices, wide ranging ICT experience, including risk and privacy assessments and ICT best practices; The most relevant certification would be the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP) Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP), or equivalent

Job Description As a Privacy Professional you will join the CERN’s Office of Data Privacy, where you will report to CERN’s Data Protection Officer. You will advise the Director-General and the Organization, as well as Data Subjects and External Entities involved in the Processing of Personal Data, on all issues related to the Organization’s data privacy protection . You will: Provide expert guidance on the implementation of CERN’s internal data protection framework and on compliance with data privacy obligations and in the processing of personal data; Advise on risk mitigation, policy development, drafting internal rules and regulations; participate in the concertation and decision-making processes, and support implementation of the decisions in matters concerning the processing of personal data; Ensure adequate exercise and execution of Data Subject rights; Manage the framework for the creation and maintenance of Records of Processing Operations; Evaluate and advise on Data Privacy Impact Assessments; Participate in the Organization’s Data Breach response procedure; Evaluate and advise on transfers of personal data; Receive and handle reports of the misprocessing, or the potential for misprocessing, of personal data; Act as a contact point for the supervisory authority; Manage or contribute to projects in the privacy and data protection field. Qualifications Eligibility criteria You are a national of a CERN Member or Associate Member State ; You have a PhD, or at least 4 years’ relevant experience since the completion of your MSc (or the equivalent diploma which gives access to doctoral programmes) in the field of information and communications technology (ICT), law or a related field and with a maximum limit of 10 years’ experience after completion of your MSc. Essential skills and experience Demonstrated experience in privacy and data protection law and practices, wide ranging ICT experience, including risk and privacy assessments and ICT best practices; The most relevant certification would be the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP) Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP), or equivalent; Ability to work with autonomy, flexibility and manage multiple tasks; Good knowledge of both French and English. Writing skills in both official CERN languages is necessary. Please note that CERN Staff members are not eligible to apply for a Fellowship. Additional Information CERN would very much like to benefit from your expertise, commitment and passion. In return, CERN will provide you with: An employment contract for between six months (minimum) up to a maximum of 36 months. A stipend ranging from 7.170 to 8,143 Swiss Francs per month (net of tax). Coverage by CERN’s comprehensive health scheme (for yourself, your spouse and children), and membership of the CERN Pension Fund. Depending on your individual circumstances: an installation grant, family, child and infant allowances as well as travel expenses to and from Geneva. 2.5 days of paid leave per month.
