The subject of the proposed project must be within one of our main research areas: Experimental Surface Physics and Catalysis with particular focus on sustainable energy solutions Catalysis Theory embracing a cross departmental collaboration on catalyst development Computational Atomic-scale Materials Design with focus on machine learning and materials engineering Plasma Physics and Fusion Energy working in international collaborations on realizing non-fossil based energy production through fusion Radiation Physics with focus on application of photonics to geosciences and neutronics for energy production Quantum Physics and Information Technology aiming to develop and utilize quantum technology Nanoscale Materials and Devices with a primary focus on synthesis, characterization, use and modeling of 2D materials and devices Neutrons and X-rays for Materials Physics using international large-scale facilities to uncover the structure and properties of materials Biophysics and Fluids with a focus on fluid and soft-matter dynamics on small length scales, often with life science applications Please follow the links to read more about the research and to identify potential supervisors (i.e. professors, associate professor, and senior scientists). DTU Physics has the main responsibility for the Physics and Nanotechnology education and for the introductory physics course for the majority of DTU’s students. The PhD position, which involves a limited teaching obligation, includes salary and travel grants covering the three years it takes to obtain a PhD degree at a Danish university. Salary level is approximately 46.000 Euro incl. pension per year. Qualifications You should have a master degree in physics or a similar relevant degree with an academic level equivalent to the master degree in engineering. Approval and Enrolment The scholarships for the PhD degree are subject to academic approval and the candidates will be enrolled in one of the general degree programs of DTU - in this case in the Physics, Mathematics and Informatics program.
