Position: Junior Scientist (m/f/d) for numerical modelling, simulation and design in aeronautics

Duties: The delivery of the Hybrid Electric Aircraft poses serious technological challenges towards achieving carbon neutral air transport as per European New Green Deal. We explore new technologies for: (A) designing thermoelectric and passive ice protection systems, or; (B) high energy density batteries and power conversion systems for next generation airliners; As a member of a growing team you will perform research either in the field (A) or in the field (B) and be involved in the execution of several national and European projects
Requirements: You hold a completed MSc (preferably PhD, but not mandatory) in Aeronautic, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering, Applied Mathematics or Physics (or related disciplines) with a focus on one of the following subjects: computational fluid dynamics (CFD), aerodynamics, heat transfer or electrical power systems, computational simulation and design; Programming skills in Python, MATLAB (including Simulink), C/C++ or similar languages are required; Expertise with state-of-the-art industrial design and computational tools (e.g. ANSYS CFD, Fluent, CFX, Modelica/Dymola) are also well regarded; You ideally have experience in working on aeronautical and/or European projects (e.g. H2020, CleanSky), preferably in close contact with industrial partners and end-users (e.g. Airbus/Leonardo)

Our Center for Low-Emission Transport is seeking to hire new Ingenious Partners for our location in Vienna: Junior Scientist (m/f/d) for numerical modelling, simulation and design in aeronautics Propulsion Technologies The delivery of the Hybrid Electric Aircraft poses serious technological challenges towards achieving carbon neutral air transport as per European New Green Deal. We explore new technologies for: (A) designing thermoelectric and passive ice protection systems, or (B) high energy density batteries and power conversion systems for next generation airliners. As a member of a growing team you will perform research either in the field (A) or in the field (B) and be involved in the execution of several national and European projects. You will work in an international, highly motivated research team. You will collaborate with national and international partners from research and industry. You will contribute to the definition and implementation of national and European R&D projects. Your research and development efforts will contribute to the success of our current research projects, enabling new air transport technologies to exploit their market potential. You will present scientific results on international conferences and workshops and publish in scientific peer-reviewed journals. Your qualifications as an Ingenious Partner* : You hold a completed MSc (preferably PhD, but not mandatory) in Aeronautic, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering, Applied Mathematics or Physics (or related disciplines) with a focus on one of the following subjects: computational fluid dynamics (CFD), aerodynamics, heat transfer or electrical power systems, computational simulation and design. German is desirable, but not mandatory What to expect: The minimum gross annual salary according to the collective agreement is EUR 43.820,--. The actual salary will be determined individually, based on your qualifications and experience.
