Position: Research Fellow in Silicon Quantum Devices

Duties: The Quantum Spin Dynamics group at UCL, led by Prof. John Morton, is inviting applications for at least one post-doctoral research fellow in silicon quantum devices. The postholder(s) will work on the experimental development of silicon-based quantum computing devices, and will have the opportunity to work as part of the UKs new Hub in Quantum Computing and Simulation and in collaboration with a recent start-up, Quantum Motion Technologies. Successful candidates will be involved in the design of silicon-based quantum devices, liaise with advanced fabrication facilities regarding their fabrication, work with theory and modelling colleagues on developing fault-tolerant architectures, and perform low-temperature characterisation and coherent control experiments using the devices. Duration of the post is funded for 2.5 years in the first instance
Requirements: A PhD in Engineering, Physics or a related discipline is essential specifically, the post-holder must have submitted the PhD thesis by the time of taking up the appointment. Experience in experimental quantum information AND/OR in measuring silicon nano-devices is essential, and it is desirable to have experience of device measurement at cryogenic temperatures AND/OR control of spins in silicon

Appointment at Grade 7 is dependent upon having been awarded a PhD; if this is not the case, initial appointment will be at research assistant Grade 6B £31,479 - £33,194 including London Allowance with payment at Grade 7 being backdated to the date of final submission of the PhD thesis.
