Requirements: The candidate must have a degree in Architecture, or Economics, or Geography, or Sociology, or Urbanism or Urban Studies, awarded by a Polytechnic institute or a Uni-versity and attained excellence in teaching, research, and in the area of Urban Studies. She or he should: have either a PhD in Urban Studies or a PhD in Urban Economics as well as experience in research projects; have previous teaching appointments and lectureships at university level re-ferred to the above mentioned subjects
   
Text: The Università della Svizzera italiana, Accademia di architettura, is seeking to fill one position as Lecturer for a BSc3 course on “The Contemporary City: Economy and Society” to be held during the Spring semester of the 2020/21 Academic Year. Subject The aim of the BSc3 course is to explain to students the elementary systems needed to study the socio-economic structure of the European contemporary city. To understand the relationship between the social and physical city (architectures and spatial organi-zation), and how the social city and the physical city co-evolve. The study of this rela-tionship has to be conducted by using as case studies of urban transformation projects that are shaping the evolution of the European city. Profile of candidate The candidate must have a degree in Architecture, or Economics, or Geography, or Sociology, or Urbanism or Urban Studies, awarded by a Polytechnic institute or a Uni-versity and attained excellence in teaching, research, and in the area of Urban Studies. She or he should: • have either a PhD in Urban Studies or a PhD in Urban Economics as well as experience in research projects; • have previous teaching appointments and lectureships at university level re-ferred to the above mentioned subjects. Further Requirements • fluency in Italian or in English. Job description The post-holder will be expected to: • teach an ex cathedra course of 5 ECTS on topics related to the contemporary city in its economic and social implications at BSc3 level (optional course, 48 teaching hours); Lecturer for a BSc3 course on “The Contemporary City: Economy and Society” 12th October 2020 pagina 2/2 • activities will be carried out in close contact with the Institute of Urban and Landscape Studies (ISUP); • contribute to developing the Accademia Library’s resources in her/his field of activity; • attend meetings of the ISUP institute and collaborating in their initiatives. Teaching load Teaching load will be defined in the contract and will include: • 48 ex cathedra teaching hours with 12 lessons of 4 hours each every other week (presence is required); • Summer (late June - early July, 2021) and Fall (late August - early September 2021) exam sessions. Salary and Contract Salary will be defined according to terms and conditions as in the Statutes of the Università della Svizzara italiana: https://www.desk.usi.ch/en/regulations-general-termsemployment- academic-staff The duration of the contract is for the academic year 2020/21. A possible extension will be discussed again at the end of the same academic year.
