Position: Senior Researcher in Clinical Genome Scale Modelling

Duties: As senior researcher, you will be expected to lead research, publish and attract research funding in clinical genome scale modeling, including Network/pathway-driven analysis of omics data obtained from critically ill patients and endothelial cell culture experiments. Specifically, the applicant will be working with metabolomics, lipidomics, proteomics, genomics, fluxomics and transcriptomics data along with typical patient metadata such as age, sex, health status, etc
Requirements: You must hold a PhD degree (or equivalent), as well as academic qualifications equivalent to those obtained by holding a position as a researcher or postdoc in the field of computational modeling and -omics data integration. You must have previous experience in using bioinformatics, statistics, computational modeling of large-scale networks using constraint-based methods, kinetic modeling and gene regulatory network modeling (i.e discrete or Boolean modeling) to answer biological questions. Experience in developing scientific software in the major languages used at the center, namely Python, C++, R and Matlab is essential

Apply online The Novo Nordisk Foundation Center for Biosustainability (DTU Biosustain) is seeking a senior researcher with expertise in metabolic and gene regulatory modeling and omics data integration to lead research and coordinate DTU Biosustain’s work as part of the CAG Center for Endotheliomics (CAG-CE). CAG-CE is a clinical academic group ( https://gchsp.dk/ ) involving six hospitals and two universities in the Copenhagen Region focusing on endothelial cell metabolism in patients with critical illness such as trauma and severe infections. The aim is through genome scale mechanistic modelling and omics data analysis to develop new markers for precision medicine. Responsibilities and tasks As senior researcher, you will be expected to lead research, publish and attract research funding in clinical genome scale modeling, including Network/pathway-driven analysis of omics data obtained from critically ill patients and endothelial cell culture experiments. Specifically, the applicant will be working with metabolomics, lipidomics, proteomics, genomics, fluxomics and transcriptomics data along with typical patient metadata such as age, sex, health status, etc Assessment, application, and development of methods for integration of multi-omics data with computational modeling in order to identify the molecular mechanisms underlying the observed phenotypes and predict therapeutic manipulation strategies. Specifically, the applicant will be expected to develop constraint-based, kinetics and gene regulatory models using the omics data. You will also be expected to establish and supervise a small group of MSc students, PhD students and postdoctoral fellows. As DTU Biosustains’s CAG-CE coordinator, you are expected to engage with other researchers in the center, promote the center activities at DTU, and facillitate teaching into PhD level courses and courses for clinicians as part of the CAG-CE program. Qualifications You must hold a PhD degree (or equivalent), as well as academic qualifications equivalent to those obtained by holding a position as a researcher or postdoc in the field of computational modeling and -omics data integration. The CAG-CE generates omics data from both clinical patient samples and from ex vivo endothelial cell culture models. Accordingly, the you must have previous experience in applying genome scale analysis on both clinical and ex vivo omics data, including strategies for efficient data integration (transcriptomics, proteomics, metabolomics, lipidomics and fluxomics). As a senior researcher, we expect that you already have experience in leading a research group and supervising postgraduate students. We also expect that you have have experience in teaching systems biology methods, for example in PhD courses.
