Position: Research Associate in computer vision for space applications (gn)

Duties: We offer an attractive Research Associate (Postdoctoral) position in close cooperation with our industrial partner LIFT-ME OFF. LIFT-ME OFF is a start-up specialized in designing novel AI solutions to enable future in-orbit services. The successful candidate will join the Computer Vision, Imaging and machine Intelligence (CVI2) research group headed by Prof. Djamila Aouada. They will also contribute to other projects in Computer Vision (European projects, partnered projects, national projects, etc.). They will p erform the following tasks: Shaping research directions and producing results in the following topics that will be applied to space applications: 6DOF object Pose estimation; Data fusion; Object recognition; Coordinating research projects and delivering outputs; Implementing real-time solutions; Providing guidance to PhD and MSc students; Disseminating results through scientific publications; Attracting funding in cooperation with industrial partners; Organizing relevant workshops and demonstrations
Requirements: A PhD degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Applied Mathematics or a related field; Competitive research record in Computer Vision and/or Robotics and/or Machine Intelligence; A previous experience in Space applications is an advantage; Strong development skills in Python and C++; Experience of working with one or more of the following frameworks: TensorFlow, PyTorch, Keras, etc; Strong experience with machine learning and deep learning concepts; Strong background in Mathematics and Physics; Experience with European projects (FP7/H2020) and/or Industrial partnership is considered an asset; Commitment, team player and a critical mind; Fluent written and verbal communication skills in English are mandatory
