Position: Senior Clinical Research Fellow/Research Site Trial Co-ordinator

Duties: AVATAR therapy involves the use of a digital simulation (avatar) of the entity the person believes is the source of their distressing voice in a three-way discussion between participant, avatar and therapist. AVATAR2 is a multi-centre RCT which aims to examine the effectiveness of brief and extended AVATAR therapy compared to treatment as usual. We are looking for a trial coordinator to join the UCL AVATAR2 team. Reporting to the Principal Investigator (PI) of the project, the successful applicant will join a dynamic team in UCL, a leading UK university with an international reputation for clinical psychology research. The post-holder will be based in the Research Department of Clinical, Educational and Health Psychology; The post-holder would work with the AVATAR2 team to achieve the aims of the project: 1. to identify who would be likely to benefit from the extended therapy versus those for whom brief therapy alone would be sufficient; 2. to examine the relative cost-effectiveness of the two modes of AVATAR therapy and routine treatment; 3. to broaden the availability of AVATAR therapy by expanding the number of staff trained in geographically dispersed NHS settings; Our long-term vision is that AVATAR therapy is optimised for delivery in clinical settings, with the impact that a novel effective treatment for distressing voices is readily adopted in UK and international clinical settings; You will be part of a vibrant team and will work on successful completion of a high profile Wellcome Trust funded project under direction of the PI and in collaboration with the multi-site AVATAR2 team. You will play a key role in leading the AVATAR2 project at UCL including supervision of research assistants, day-to-day management of the clinical trial site, liaison with clinical teams and contributing to interpretation and dissemination of the findings. Requirements: We are looking for a Senior Clinical Research Fellow/Research Site Trial Co-ordinator with an interest in psychosis research and digital mental health who has excellent organisational, social and clinical skills; You will need to be registered with the HCPC and have experience of working clinically with people with psychosis; You will have experience of working effectively in a team and conducting clinical research in NHS settings.
