Position: Paralegal in Knowledge and Technology Transfer for Patents and Licensing (*gn)

Duties: Patents: Examine invention disclosure forms; Coordinating the administration of EP, international and foreign patent applications and related correspondence from filing, issuance of grant and maintenance; Responsible for meeting patent formalities requirements for EP, US and international patent filings, patent nationalisations into foreign jurisdictions and other conventions; Responsible for dealing with and following up on formal notifications from patent offices or agents; Proactive maintenance and assistance of dockets and ensure that all related deadlines are met in a timely manner; monitor and update electronic docket and assigned paralegal tasks on a daily basis to ensure up-to-date dockets; Licences: Management of licences follow-up, monitoring of licences, royalty payments; Monitor licensee compliance with license agreements; Role includes patent services data input and invoice processing; Record information about technology transfer contracts into an online database; Create and manage patent and licence information in schedules and databases; Draft form letters and correspondence related to technology transfer marketing and legal matters; Track deadlines and manage progress with legal projects; Administration: Assist the Head of Knowledge and Technology Transfer with agenda, trips, and as requested; Assist management and executive staff with other special projects and functions as necessary
Requirements: Paralegal Certificate/IP certification or equivalent experience, University/college education preferred; 1-2 years exposure working in a global setting, of leading projects and managing its resources; At least 5 years professional experience as a patent paralegal having worked with or managed resources from law/patent firms; Very good written and spoken English; French and/or German are considered as an asset

The University of Luxembourg seeks to hire a Paralegal in Knowledge and Technology Transfer for Patents and Licensing (*gn) for its newly created central “Office for Partnership, Knowledge and Technology Transfer (KTT)”. activities which are spread across 3 faculties and 3 interdisciplinary research centres. The newly launched central “Office for Partnership, Knowledge and Technology Transfer (KTT)” aims at bringing UL’s research outcomes to exploitation through partnerships, patenting, licensing and spin-off activities. Building on international best practices and UL’s significant research achievements, UL has already launched several significant partnerships, Proof of Concepts and spin-off companies. We wish to consolidate our existing teams of experienced experts towards a fully-fledged central office, which will closely collaborate with the experts in UL’s entities in the spirit of a distributed hub-and-spoke system.
