Position: Research and Development specialist in Large-Scale Statistics

Duties: The research and development specialist will perform advanced statistical analyses on data emerging in the context of LUCET’s core mission (i.e., “Épreuves Standardisées”, the Luxembourg school monitoring programme) and other (large-scale) data collections (e.g., PISA). S/he is expected to contribute to the conceptual setup, implementation, administration, maintenance and supervision of the LUCET longitudinal database. Activities The research and development specialist will work within LUCET’s large-scale statistics laboratory LSS_Lab and support state-of-the-art analyses and reporting of cross-sectional and longitudinal large-scale assessment data. The following general research tasks are included in the research and development specialist: perform advanced statistical analyses on data emerging from ÉpStan; contribute to the conceptual setup, implementation, administration, maintenance and supervision of the LUCET longitudinal database; contribute to data management and data documentation; contribute to the creation of reports of empirical studies; contribute and support (ongoing and future) activities relevant for the conduct, analysis, and reporting in the context of large-scale studies; contribute and support (ongoing and future) research projects related to ÉpStan and other projects within LUCET; contribute to scientific articles and scientific presentations, as well as LUCET’s public outreach efforts; perform any other tasks within the framework of the position
Requirements: Master’s degree in social sciences, data sciences or statistics; Proven expertise in large-scale statistics, psychometrics, ideally in the context of (computer-based) psycho-educational (large-scale) assessment; In-depth knowledge of advanced statistical methods, particularly multivariate statistics (g., hierarchical linear models, generalized regression models, structural equation models, and item response models); Excellent knowledge in statistical programming languages (R is mandatory); Knowledge of relational databases and SQL are a plus; Knowledge of LaTeX is a plus; Effective interpersonal and communication skills; Very good oral and written competences in English; German, French and Luxembourgish are a plus; Ability to work in a multidisciplinary and multicultural team
