Duties: Within the scope of digitalization numerical standards are getting more and more important as, in most cases, a complex evaluation software is an essential component of modern measurement systems. Against this background, an internet-based software test for the validation of evaluation algorithms is being developed for gear metrology in an AiF third-party funded project. The test is integrated as additional module into PTB's already existing TraCIM system for examining metrological evaluation algorithms and is thus provided to users from industry and science
Requirements: You have completed your university studies in mathematics, physics, information technology or an engineering science; You have a passion for mathematical representations, in particular for describing geometrical relations; You are familiar with higher programming languages (preferably JAVA) as well as MATLAB and/or Mathematica; Ideally, you have experience in one of the fields of coordinate metrology or gearing technology; You have excellent communication skills and are a team player; You are highly committed and can identify with your assigned tasks; You are ready to travel for business purposes in Germany; You have a good command of spoken and written German and English; You enjoy autonomous scientific work as well as project activities in cooperation with partners from industry

August 2020 The Physikalisch-Technische Bundesanstalt (PTB) is the National Metrology Institute of the Federal Republic of Germany with scientific and technical service tasks. It furthers progress and reliability in metrology for society, the economy and science. In Department 5.3 "Coordinate Metrology" of Division 5, we are looking for a scientist specialized in mathematics, physics, information technology or an engineering science to join us as of 1 November 2020. This position is limited to 2.5 years. You will be employed at our Braunschweig site. The remuneration will be paid in accordance with remuneration group 13 TVöD Bund.
