Duties: The hurricane research group in the Department of Earth and Atmospheric Sciences at Indiana University Blooming is searching for a Postdoctoral Associate to conduct research in the stochastic dynamics and modelling of hurricanes. Indiana University runs a state-of-the-art computing center with a supercomputer Big Red II that possesses peak performance at the PetaFlops level as well as advanced data storage archive, providing a top-tier center for Earth system modeling and data analysis. As such, the Postdoctoral Associate will have opportunities to explore and conduct numerical experiments, using such a superb HPC infrastructure
Requirements: The Postdoctoral Associate is expected to possess good mathematical skill in fluid dynamics and nonlinear dynamical systems. Qualified candidates must have obtained a Ph.D. prior to the appointment date

As such, the Postdoctoral Associate will have opportunities to explore and conduct numerical experiments, using such a superb HPC infrastructure. The initial appointment for this position is 1 year, and can be extended to the 2nd year upon successful performance and funding availability. The expected start date is August 1, 2020, but is negotiable. The candidate will be jointly supervised by Dr. Chanh Kieu (Department of Earth and Atmospheric Sciences) and Dr. Wai-Tong Louis Fan (Department of Mathematics). Basic Qualifications The Postdoctoral Associate is expected to possess good mathematical skill in fluid dynamics and nonlinear dynamical systems. Qualified candidates must have obtained a Ph.D. prior to the appointment date.
