Position: Master Thesis „5G Massive MIMO Radio Channel Parameters Identification from Empirical Data“

Duties: You will conduct literature research on methods to identify the main scattering objects in a propagation scenario with methods like angle of arrival beamforming, RIMAX, Sage etc; You will implement a suitable method to identify the main scattering objects and augment already existing 3D channel models with the findings; You will learn how to operate and work with software defined radio hardware and the measurement data gathered with it; Furthermore, you will apply advanced signal processing techniques to analyze spatial features of wireless propagation channels with AIT’s extensive processing framework
Requirements: Ongoing Master's studies in electrical engineering, telecommunication engineering, computer science, applied mathematics or similar; Solid knowledge in digital signal processing, the description of linear systems, and modulation formats; Good knowledge of Matlab, desirable C/C, LabView, Python; Ability to integrate in a multinational research team; Very good knowledge of either German or English (fluent in spoken and written)

Our Center for Digital Safety & Security in Vienna invites applications for a: Master Thesis „5G Massive MIMO Radio Channel Parameters Identification from Empirical Data“ Security & Communication Technologies For link level simulations of 5G wireless communication system numerical channel models are required. To obtain an accurate model, we performed massive MIMO channel measurements, that you will analyze to identify the position and characteristics of scattering objects in a vehicular multipath propagation scenario. The aim is to augment 3D geometrical channel models of the scenario. You will conduct literature research on methods to identify the main scattering objects in a propagation scenario with methods like angle of arrival beamforming, RIMAX, Sage etc. You will implement a suitable method to identify the main scattering objects and augment already existing 3D channel models with the findings. You will learn how to operate and work with software defined radio hardware and the measurement data gathered with it. Furthermore, you will apply advanced signal processing techniques to analyze spatial features of wireless propagation channels with AIT’s extensive processing framework. You will gain experience in the field of Wireless Communications and will increase your knowledge in a cutting-edge topic. You will train scientific working and will have the opportunity to discuss about various experiences, methods & techniques with scientific experts.
