This postdoc will work with project PIs to: plan, conduct, and analyze data from, assigned and/or original research projects on student learning in mathematical methods in physics while working collaboratively with faculty, staff, postdocs, and students in the project and in the research group; develop and adapt instructional interventions that improve student reasoning about and use of mathematical methods in physics; document development and impact of interventions; apply, and possibly adapt, theoretical frameworks and models of learning from both PER and RUME to describe and support data; maintain accurate records of research findings and the analysis of results; mentor graduate and undergraduate researchers as appropriate, at all collaborating institutions; provide logistical support and project coordination; present research findings at professional meetings; prepare manuscripts for publication in collaboration with other researchers in project collaboration. Typical hiring range for this position is $48,000 to $50,000, commensurate with experience and qualifications. Demonstrated ability to collaborate with others on research. Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies. Preferred: Demonstrated interest in physics education research and interactive teaching. Experience working with mathematical aspects of student understanding in physics. Familiarity with the research in undergraduate mathematics education (RUME) literature. Demonstrated experience with quantitative and statistical analysis and/or qualitative research. Excellent written communication skills evidenced through a record of scholarly publications and excellent oral communication skills evidenced through a record of conference and other presentations.
