Activities within the Psychiatric Genomics and Pharmacogenomics Research Program include comprehensive data analyses to identify genetic risk factors for bipolar disorder and alcohol use disorder and outcomes of their treatment. A key focus of the program is the genetic heterogeneity of complex psychiatric disorders, which is addressed through investigation of sub-phenotypes of these traits. The genetic studies involve primarily analysis of genome-wide association study data and whole genome sequencing data. Members of this research program also develop novel statistical methods for genetic analyses of complex human traits. To learn more about Dr. Biernacka's research, please visit: https://www.mayo.edu/research/faculty/biernacka-joanna-m-ph-d/bio-00095918.
