Position: Research Assistant

Duties: The position will assist in field operations and laboratory processing of collected field samples from alpine stream networks in Switzerland. Field work will encompass multiple days (overnights) to collect various types of samples, but primarily aquatic and riparian ma-croinvertebrates for assessing biodiversity and the trophic structure of food webs using stable isotope analysis. Field work will be in high elevation landscapes and is physically challenging and often under changing weather conditions
Requirements: Applicants should hold a degree in Environmental Sciences, Biology or Ecology and have a strong interest in Freshwater Ecology. Knowledge and interest in stream macroinvertebrates would be beneficial. The working language is mainly English but knowledge of German is helpful

Eawag conducts research, education and expert consulting to achieve the dual goals of meeting direct human needs for water and maintaining the function and integrity of aquatic ecosystems. The Department of Aquatic Ecology has a vacancy for a Research Assistant 50% The 3-year, 50% employment position will assist in field operations and laboratory processing of collected field samples from alpine stream networks in Switzerland.
