Position: Beamline Scientist

Location: Villigen, Aargau, Switzerland
Duties: The duties include contribution to the development of the Bernina endstation towards advanced technical and scientific prospects, as well as planning and support of external users to perform state of the art Free Electron Laser experiments. The candidate should take responsibility to develop new research and R&D projects which advance the Bernina group research scope. The work includes inhouse experiments, acquisition of 3rd party funds, and collaboration within the group, the PSI facility, as well as national and international users and collaborators
Requirements: You have a PhD degree in physics or similar, with a found expertise in performing pump/probe experiments using existing 3rd or 4th generation light sources. This preferably includes experience in resonant and non-resonant X-Ray and ultrafast laser experiments, applied to condensed matter or materials science. You have conducted independent experimental research projects and developed new instrumentation, which enabled new science insights. An excellent know-how in computational methods is desired as it is required for planning, execution and interpretation of experiments. You enjoy working in a team of scientific and technical staff as well as working with Postdoctoral Fellows, Scientists and PhD Students. You are motivated to propose new ideas and discuss them with your colleagues or collaborators
