Position: Research Associate - High-throughput approach for microfluidic lifespan determination in yeast (m/f)

Duties: The successful candidate will be working on the above named research project with the overall aim to establish and validate a new microfluidic methodology to determine the lifespan of Saccharomyces cerevisiae, which serves as an important model organism in our research. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, performing, and documenting microfluidic cultivations. He/She will lead the constructive exchange between his/her laboratory work and the engineering and chip design, performed by our international collaboration partners, and will present his/her work in international conferences and scientific publications
Requirements: The applicant should have a technical or Master degree in Bioengineering or a related discipline and is expected to have experience in microfluidics, chip preparation, and design. Extensive previous experience of working in a laboratory is essential; experience in microbiology is a plus. Candidates must demonstrate good oral and written communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team

The University of Luxembourg has the following vacancy in the Luxembourg Centre for Systems Biomedicine (LCSB): Research Associate - High-throughput approach for microfluidic lifespan determination in yeast Ref: 50014761 18 months fixed-term contract, 40 h/week Employee status (start date: as soon as possible) Applications are invited for a Research Assistant position in Systems Biomedicine available in the Enzymology and Metabolism group (headed by Carole Linster) of the Luxembourg Centre for Systems Biomedicine at the University of Luxembourg. The research of the Enzymology and Metabolism group focuses on better understanding the physiological functions of recently identified protein and metabolite repair mechanisms, on developing strategies for accelerating enzyme function discovery, and on elucidating the molecular mechanisms involved in the aging process. We offer an open, multidisciplinary and interesting research environment within a young and dynamic group.
