Text: Job ID: ISF037PD220 The Acoustics Research Institute (ARI) of the Austrian Academy of Sciences (OeAW), Austria’s leading nonuniversity research and science institution, is offering a position for a POSTDOC RESEARCHER (F*M) (full-time, 40h/week) ARI is an interdisciplinary research institution of Austria’s leading non-university research facility. It undertakes top-level research in psychoacoustics and experimental audiology, acoustic phonetics, musicology and bioacoustics, physical and computational acoustics, and mathematics and signal processing. The close interaction of the working groups allows innovative research approaches through the synergistic effects of multidisciplinary research. ARI employs ~40 academic, technical and administrative staff. The position is assigned to the Mathematics and Signal Processing in Acoustics group in Vienna. The successful candidate will work within the mathematical project “Frames and Unbounded Operators (Fun)” founded by the innovation funds of the Austrian Academy of Sciences for two years, led by Peter Balazs. The candidate should be able to show: • PhD thesis in one of the following disciplines: mathematics, physics, or related fields. • Knowledge in unbounded operator theory and frame theory (as frame theory expertise is very strong in the existing research team at the ARI, more focus will be given to people with a strong unbounded operator background). • Communication of scientific results in scientific publications and at scientific meetings. We offer a full-time position for two years. The desired starting date is September 1, 2020. The annual gross salary is EUR 43.828,40 (before taxes, 14 payments a year) according to the collective agreement of the Austrian Academy of Sciences.
