Position: Junior Grant Officer/Project Budget Controller

Duties: Establish a project related budgeting strategy and procedures; Support and provide guidance to the project responsible throughout proposal development; Steadily and actively follow up application and project related communication and ongoings with project partners internally and externally and with funding organizations; Contribute to project sections related to project management, reporting, and dissemination; Keep the timelines and manage timely, high quality submission of proposals; Administrative and organizational tasks including quality assurance of project management and post-grant procedures, documentation, and database maintenance
Requirements: Commercial apprenticeship with at least 5 years of sound work experience or Bachelor’s Degree of University of Applied Sciences with at least 2 years of sound work experience; In-depth project management experience in health related sciences, academia, or industry and interest to extending expertise towards research project management; Sound experience in budgeting and/or accounting; Personality with accurate, reliable, and responsible capabilities; Communication and negotiation skills with various stakeholders in the intercultural context of academia, service and industry nationally and worldwide are an asset; Pragmatic and hands-on way of working, solution and target-oriented approach, at times also under time pressure; Ability to routinely use various standard IT tools; Fluency in English, good command in German and French is an asset
   
Text: The Swiss Tropical and Public Health Institute (Swiss TPH) is a world-leading institute in global health with a particular focus on low- and middle-income countries. Associated with the University of Basel, Swiss TPH combines research, services, and education and training at the local, national and international level. Over 850 people from more than 80 nations work at Swiss TPH focusing on infectious and non-communicable diseases, environment, society and health as well as health systems and interventions. Within the Administrative Department, the Project & Grant Service Unit (PGSU) is a central structure within Swiss TPH at the interface between project leaders and administration to support the project cycle of research and service projects. PGSU is currently looking for a Junior Grant Officer / Project Budget Controller (80%-100%) The role of the Grant Officer / Project Budget Controller is to facilitate proposal development and grant management of Swiss TPH research and service orientated projects. Particular attention is being put on developing and harmonizing project budgeting. The job holder reports to the head of PGSU. The position is newly created to support the team and to exert and steadily build up the grant management capacity at Swiss TPH.
