Position: Ethics and legal researcher in the area of biomedical data sciences

Duties: Contribute to content development and coordination of the ethical, legal and social issues (ELSI) working group in the European initiative to share more than 1 Million genomes; Engage in other European and national projects on the implementation of ELSI compliant policies and infrastructure; Participate in the discussion and implementation of ELSI subject on the national level; this will involve setting up a new initiative for clinical medicine and research; Contribute to the development of a national Code of Conduct for Scientific Research; Work closely with other team members and international researchers on the design and implementation of ELSI principles in a data driven research environment in the health sciences
Requirements: A Master degree with several years of experience or a PhD degree in biomedicine with experience with ethical and legal challenges for research or alternatively a law degree with experience in biomedicine; You are enthusiastic about the practical implementation of ELSI aspects into research and like to work collaboratively towards these goals; Good knowledge of the General Data Protection Regulation; Proven work experience with legal challenges in the genomics research field and experience in international initiatives; Knowledge of ethical requirements and informed consent procedures in medical research as well as in computational science involving healthcare data; Good understanding of intellectual property rights, knowledge of data sharing policy and open science practices; Proven experience of collaborative research, managing a diverse research community, self-organisation and project management; Strong problem solving and interpersonal skills are required; Ability to effectively organise, prioritise and execute tasks in a highly dynamic environment; Experience in writing grants, academic papers etc; Excellent communication skills and the ability to articulate clearly the ELSI needs to biomedical scientists and to work within an interdisciplinary setting, communicating with other internal and external partners; Proficiency in English, good language skills in French and/or German are an asset

ELIXIR-Luxembourg is a key player in aspects of data protection and ethics for data driven biomedical research.
