Position: Librarian Specialist (m/f)

Duties: In September 2018, the Luxembourg Learning Centre (LLC) open its doors to the public. Since that day to now its spaces and collections have faced several challenging issues which require a specialist on disaster planning, response and recovery. Your Role Attached to the Resource & Technical Services Team, this person will be in charge of implementing the emergency procedures for prevention, reaction, and alleviation of disasters at the LLC: Develop a Risk Assessment Plan to evaluate and mitigate the actual and potential threats to the LLC and its collections; Draft a Business Continuity Plan as a response tool for services provision and access to resources in case of an emergency at the LLC; Compose a Disaster Recovery Plan together with its strategies and tools to prioritize LLC collections during natural or human-caused disasters and to maximize preservation of library materials; Conduct training, exercises and drills for all LLC staff who have a role to play in preparing for and recovering from disaster; Design emergency procedures, tools, manuals and introduce colleagues to the principles of salvaging; Customize communication methods and information on how to use new technologies and social media effectively in times of disaster; Work closely with other colleagues in the Acquisitions Team to provide replacement access to unavailable library resources; Secondary tasks; You will occasionally participate in User Services activities (loan service, reception, registration, user orientation and information, user training); You will take an active part in face-to-face and remote user information activities via the Ask a Librarian and Book a Librarian services; You will analyze the needs of the audiences to be served; You will participate in the LLC's communication activities
Requirements: Master degree in Library/Documentation Science or equivalent; Experience in risk assessment, business continuity and disaster recovery, planning, testing and implementation in libraries, cultural or academic institutions would be an asset; Good knowledge of IT tools and information technology; Experience with an integrated library system, knowledge of Aleph being an advantage; Experience in management of communication actions for the public of cultural institutions; Good level in English and French (spoken & written). German and/or Luxembourgish is an asset
