We seek a talented postdoctoral data scientist to build a fuller understanding of cancer molecular dependencies by connecting insight with data from functional and pharmaco-genomic screens. The successful candidate will collaborate with the Zitnik lab at Harvard to leverage advanced analytical techniques including machine learning and knowledge graphs. At AstraZeneca, we are united by a common purpose: to push the boundaries of science to deliver life-changing medicines. Every single day, we make a difference by delivering potentially life-changing medicines to millions of people worldwide. A significant investment in state-of-the-art data science and AI is at the forefront of our drive to make hearts healthier, help people breathe easier, and ensure more people survive cancer. About the Opportunity: Initiatives like DepMap and the GDSC are releasing 10,000’s of results detailing cancer cell line dependency to CRISPR knockout and combinations of drugs. AstraZeneca are complimenting this with 1000’s of results from custom screens and novel endpoints, including partnership with CRUK to build a Functional Genomics Center. These cell lines are deeply and dynamically characterized for multiple omics. Advanced analytical techniques will be essential to fully harness the dimensionality of these data and multimodal nature of the biology captured. Recent advances in graph representation of biological data offer huge promise, capturing prior knowledge and constraints within a machine learning framework to derive smarter and more interpretable predictions.
