Apply online We are looking for an experienced wind measurement engineer who is capable of taking responsibility for wind scanner measurement field campaigns and can use advanced data handling methods to organise and analyse the data. DTU Wind Energy are world leaders in wind measurements using systems of scanning lidars. These are specially designed, steerable beam lidars. Synchronised systems of these lidars are used to measure wind turbine inflow and wakes as well as characterising the flow over hills and mountains where wind turbines will be installed. Making good scanning lidar measurements is exceptionally challenging since there are many pitfalls and many complicated systems that all have to work correctly together. Often the lidars have to be installed in remote and challenging locations such as in offshore wind turbine parks. Once the measurements are made, there are usually vast amounts of raw data that have to be handled, quality controlled, analysed and organised so that they can be used by non-specialist researchers. Modern data handling methods such as machine learning provide many new possibilities for data processing and analysis. Introducing and developing such possibilities will also be an important role for this new position. In addition to these challenging tasks, the successful candidate will also be expected to assist with teaching and supervision of students up to PhD level. She or he will also be expected to make significant contributions to seeking both commercial and research funds for our work. Candidate profile We are looking for an outstanding measurement engineer with the qualities necessary to take responsibility for making lidar field measurements and also helping us in modernising how we measure, store and analyse data. The successful applicant has many of the following qualifications: Master or PhD degree in a wind-related discipline.
