Duties: We are now looking for a Clinical Research Fellow to deliver treatment trials in Parkinson’s disease and undertake embedded add-on studies. This includes The ADepT-PD study (antidepressants trial in patients with PD) and its add-on projects on the genetic and motor progression sub study to detect possible neuroprotective effects of nortriptyline. The post holder will work with an interdisciplinary team of experienced researchers, who bring together different aspects of research tools and experiences
Requirements: The successful candidate must be a registered medical practitioner licensed to practise in the UK (or eligible to be registered) and have completed general medical training, and be planning to enter specialist training in either neurology, psychiatry or care of the elderly. Applicants must have experience in Neurology at NTN (previously SHO) or equivalent level and MRCP or equivalent. A demonstrable record of academic excellence and IT proficiency at advanced user level (Spreadsheet, Word Processing, Database, Email, Web based applications) are essential. A very high level of consideration and care for patients and research subjects, good inter-personal skills with an ability to work co-operatively in a multidisciplinary setting, and excellent oral and written communication skills, including fluency in English are also required. Experience of working in a medical role with patients with Parkinsons disease and depression is desirable; Honorary Clinical Assistant contracts will be sought from Royal Free London and UCLH NHS Foundation Trusts, for which a DBS check will be required

The Department incorporates groups from the Queen Square and Royal Free campuses of the Institute. We are now looking for a Clinical Research Fellow to deliver treatment trials in Parkinsons disease and undertake embedded add-on studies. This includes The ADepT-PD study (antidepressants trial in patients with PD) and its add-on projects on the genetic and motor progression sub study to detect possible neuroprotective effects of nortriptyline. The post is available from 01 August 2020 and is funded from the National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) for two years in the first instance.
