There is a vacancy in the Cancer Cell Biology and Drug Discovery Group of Prof. Dr. Daniel Abankwa at the Department of Life Sciences and Medicine, Faculty of Science, Technology and Medicine: Doctoral candidate (PhD student) in the field of RAS cancer drug development (M/F) 3 years fixed-term contract, renewable up to 4 years ; full-time (40 hours / week) Starting on September 1st 2020 or closest to it Employee and student status Application deadline with Ref No RCREQ0003873 : May 15th 2020 The PhD student will work in the Cancer Cell Biology and Drug Discovery group under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Daniel Abankwa. The group focuses on understanding how the notorious oncogene RAS drives cancer cell stemness and on drug targeting RAS (eRASeCancer.wordpress.com). The particular aim of this project is to develop a protein-protein interaction inhibiting peptidomimetic against a novel target interface in the RAS pathway. Moreover, we will be looking for competitive or allosteric small molecule inhibitors with a similar activity. The project will be carried out in tight collaboration with Prof. Tom Grossmann (Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam), an expert in peptidomimetics.
