Position: Postdoctoral Research Associate/Senior Research Associate

Duties: The University of Sydney is welcoming applications for a Postdoctoral Research Associate/Senior Research Associate (Level A-B) to conduct research in a collaborative research team based at the School of Mathematics and Statistics, participating in a research program investigating the representation theory of cyclotomic KLR algebras in the context of ARC Project ‘Graded Semisimple Deformations’. This role will report to, and work with, Professor Andrew Mathas, carrying out scientific research and preparing and presenting scientific results in papers and conferences, and co-supervising undergraduate and graduate research students
Requirements: A PhD in an appropriate area such as (but not limited to) mathematics and statistics or another closely related scientific discipline; Proven research ability, and evidence of self-motivation and research potential; Proven excellence in written and oral communications, interacting with a variety of researchers and stakeholders; Proven commitment to producing high quality work and a demonstrated track record of high-quality publications; Demonstrated excellence in research within mathematics through published research in refereed journals; Proven ability to write and contribute to mathematical research papers, publishing research as sole author or in collaboration; Demonstrated expertise in representation theory and algebraic combinatorics

Additionally, you will help to coordinate the research of different researchers and eventually apply for independent research fellowship and collaborative research funding. Desirable Demonstrated working knowledge of the representation theory of the cyclotomic KLR algebras Proven programming skills with experience using mathematical software such as sage, gap or magma Evidence of ability, versatility and commitment to excellence in undergraduate teaching.
