Duties: Operating out of our offices in either Sussex or Essex, Archaeology South-East (the Field Unit of the Institute of Archaeology, UCL) requires a Project Manager to take a leading role in our commercial and research projects throughout southern England; This is an exciting opportunity to help us pioneer new ways of integrating development-led archaeology with academic research, whilst ensuring that our archaeological work meets wider social needs. You will be a full member of staff of the UCL Institute of Archaeology: one of the leading academic departments of archaeology globally and the largest department in its field in the UK; Candidates will need to co-ordinate field operations and specialist research to satisfy project briefs and specifications in an efficient and cost-effective manner. They will need to prepare tenders and specifications for archaeological projects and provide professional and academic advice to clients, colleagues and public agencies; This is a challenging post within a fast-growing team, and we are keen to attract applications from suitably experienced archaeologists committed to delivering research excellence that meets the exacting standards of our commercial and public sector clients. The post can be based in Archaeology South-East's office in either Portslade, East Sussex or Witham, Essex, depending on the successful candidate
Requirements: Applicants should have an excellent working knowledge of British archaeology of all periods and comprehensive knowledge of field practice. Applicants should have a publication record, including the completion of at least one major excavation report to publication standard. Applicants should have the ability to manipulate archaeological and financial data within a range of relevant software programmes
